Key learning objectives: The Trainee will obtain practical experience in a professional work setting while developing skills related to migration and development. The trainee will gain insights into the various stages of migration, including associated challenges and opportunities. Under the general guidance and supervision of the Knowledge Management and Digitalization Specialist, trainee will be introduced to project and program cycle management, monitoring and evaluation frameworks and tools, knowledge management and communication strategies, and the functions of the three spheres of government in relation to the migration sector.
Learning Areas:
1. Compliance to policies, rules/regulations and guidelines
- Adhere to relevant policies, procedures, regulations and guidelines of HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation ( Code of Conduct; Security Response Guide; Gender Equality and Social Inclusion Guide; Sexual Harassment & Mobbing Policy; Code of Conduct Against Corruption etc.) and other specific policies applicable; and
- Compliance with the GoN and SDC policies and approaches as relevant and required.
2. Project management and implementation
- Participate in workshops, dialogues, and trainings on migration/reintegration and foreign employment;
- Support to enhance the program quality of Employment Service Centres by reviewing and consolidating reports for extracting and sharing of best practices and case stories;
- Support in implementation of migrant’s rights network related activities, including the collection of best practices and case studies;
- Provide support in the process of developing YPO, periodic review, and regular reporting.
3. Federal state building, planning and budgeting
- Support in data management of program component, including migration/ reintegration profile and reintegration guidelines;
- Assist in collecting and updating data at three levels of government in alignment with the existing governance structure;
- Provide support in organizing consultation meetings, workshops, etc., and drafting letters and minutes;
- Support in coordination with relevant line Ministry and other government partners as required.
4. Knowledge Management and Communication
- Assist project/program staff and technical partners in documenting human-interest stories, best practices, lessons learned, innovations, and case studies-highlighting both successes and failures;
- Create visual documentation materials such as infographics, dashboards, and PowerPoint presentations to enhance communication of results;
- Assist as and when needed in creating organizational publications and communication materials;
- Assist in the development of Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials and social media content.
5. Data Management and Reporting
- Assist in preparing consolidated periodic progress reports including annual, semi-annual and monthly reports;
- Support implementing partners in updating and managing monitoring tools and databases for timely, accurate data collection;
- Assist in cleaning and analyzing data retrieved from the ReMi project related database(s);
- Provide support on development of ReMi digital initiatives, including support to software testing, coordinating with service providers for trouble shooting.
6. Others
- Act proactively in performing the aforesaid tasks;
- Provide support in other tasks as required.
Eligibility Criteria and Competencies
A. Eligibility Criteria:
- Bachelors’ degree in the field of communication, computer application, public administration and social science or any other relevant field;
- Fresh graduate having no prior job experience;
- Willingness for extensive field travel in project areas;
- Commitment towards gender equality, social inclusion, poverty reduction and sensitivity towards migrant workers and their families;
- Proactive and a learning attitude;
- Woman/man from Dalit, woman from Janajati, Madhesi/Terai caste/ethnicity, ethnic and religious minorities, woman/man from discriminated Newar castes.
B. Competencies Required:
- A keen learning attitude and sense of responsibility;
- Knowledge on labor migration and reintegration of Nepali migrant workers;
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and digital collaboration tools (e.g., SharePoint);
- Familiarity with tools for data analysis and visual Interpretation is an asset;
- Basic understanding of tools like Canva, or similar platforms;
- Willingness and interest for travel to project field locations (50%);
- Eagerness and self-initiation to learn and develop a career in the sector;
- Basic understanding on the functioning of local government and federalism principles and the political context;
- Reliable, sincere with positive attitude;
- Excellent time management, task prioritization skills and result orientation;
- Polite with good interpersonal and intercultural competencies;
- Good English & Nepali skills (oral, written and typing);
- Good facilitation and communication skills including ability to represent and interact effectively with different stakeholders;
- Good team player and effective communicator.
